A Haunt That Never Stops Changing

Haunted Scarecrow is constantly growing. New scenes, expanded sets, reimagined pathways, and unexpected surprises are continually added to the attraction. While longtime visitors may recognize pieces of the basement, nothing stays exactly the same. Rooms are rearranged, scares evolve, and every season brings something new to discover.

That means every trip underground is a different experience.

The Actors Make the Fear Real

The heart of Haunted Scarecrow has always been its cast.

Our talented scare actors don't simply hide behind corners—they bring the basement to life through immersive performances, clever improvisation, and perfectly timed scares. Every group experiences the haunt a little differently because every performance is unique.

Returning this summer is Dizzle, Haunted Scarecrow's fan-favorite scare actor and unofficial mascot. Guests who have visited before know exactly why she's become one of the attraction's most memorable characters. If this is your first visit, you'll soon understand why so many people ask if Dizzle is back.

What Awaits Below

As you descend beneath 505 Central Food Hall, you'll navigate twisting corridors filled with darkness, drifting fog, dramatic lighting, eerie soundscapes, and immersive special effects designed to keep you on edge from beginning to end.

The fear comes from the atmosphere, the performers, and the unknown—not from physical contact.

Haunted Scarecrow is proudly a no-touch haunt. Our actors will never touch guests, and we ask visitors to extend the same courtesy to our cast so everyone can enjoy a safe and unforgettable experience.

Is Discover Despair Right for You?

Discover Despair is open to guests of all ages, but it is designed to be a genuinely frightening haunted house experience. Darkness, loud audio, fog, flashing lights, and intense scares may not be suitable for younger children or those sensitive to these effects. Parents should use their own discretion when deciding if the attraction is appropriate for their group.

Make a Night of It

One of the best parts of visiting Discover Despair is everything waiting upstairs.

Located beneath 505 Central Food Hall, guests can enjoy a variety of local restaurants before or after their descent into the basement. Grab dinner, enjoy drinks with friends, or relax with a craft beer or cocktail before facing the darkness. It's the perfect way to turn your visit into a full night out in Downtown Albuquerque.
